Shame Cr Judy Bromfield Shame.

Judy BromfieldTonight the General Manager of the Derwent Valley Council confirmed that Cr, Judy Bromfield knew about the need for people to run the Long Table Fire Fundraising event at Willow Court tonight and knew the consequences of her plan to defer new (Insured)Members of the Willow Court Committee well before she moved a motion on Thursday Night’s Council Meeting to stop the event.

Her decision can only mean that she did deliberately stop the fundraising event tonight at Willow Court.

Is Councillor Bromfield aware of the stress she has caused to Council employees and volunteers?  Shame Cr Bromfield Shame. The General Manager along with Cr Bester did assist at the gates of Willow Court tonight to help inform people that the event would be not going ahead .

Cr Judy Bromfield owes the people who worked hard to arrange this event for the Tasmanian Fire Appeal and the New Norfolk Community an explanation and an apology, this is disgusting behaviour from a Councilor with over 20 years experience.

  1. The Councillor claimed that she was following protocol, but has not given any examples to support the claim in yesterday’s New Norfolk Gazette. I agree that the conduct of this person has bought embarrassment to the Valley, she should consider her position.

    1. Hi Wilson,
I did see the article you refer to and yes, there isn’t any examples given. The simple fact that this Councillor knew and discussed the actions before the meeting negate the fact that “a phone call could have arranged insurance for the Long Table Dinner”.
If a Councillor is prepared to stop an event like this then what sort of games would she play with that “one phone call”? It has become clear that she knew, she should have shown leadership, even at the Council meeting and offered that as another option, but she did not!
To see her performance during a Council meeting was shameful, looking at her fan base and winking each time she scored a point! It is the behaviour you come to expect from children in a playground. DISAPPOINTING!
I think that her voting base should look at her performance, 22 years, 13 of which Willow Court was closed and all she has been able to offer is a Paranormal Documentary!

It is also believed that the Councillor is on a low Salt diet. A number of the names that had the RSA (Responsible serving of alcohol) and the Chef have the same name? This seems more like a personal vendetta against the Chair of friends of Willow Court, Anne Salt, for asking the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner to have an independent eye over this shame that is called a documentary.
It would appear that family friendships mean a lot to her and no-one should cross their path, otherwise she will use her power as a Councillor to have retribution. It would be nice to hear her side of the story, after all, Councillors must be informed of ALL the facts before making a decision and the General Manager said that he told her!
Any other political party and she would be asked to resign, but I think she has too much power and pulled the Mayor out like a puppet to talk on her behalf in that article.
The Derwent Valley Council has some rot in it, and it needs to be cut out.

      1. Hi Admin,
I didn’t realise that the two things could be connected, but it is possibly a logical conclusion. Maybe the Councillor can explain her action herself?? But from what I have heard, I wouldn’t be holding my breath! I am embarrassed to call the Valley home to my friends further south, we are becoming a laughing stock and this Council isn’t getting better.
I drive past the site each day and can’t understand why it can’t be made into something for the community and employ some locals. It seems that political point scoring, nepotism and dubious decisions are what this group can do. What other “questionable” decisions has this Councillor made and who has benefited?
Our Mayor now is a Ghost expert in the Mercury “Derwent Valley Mayor Martyn Evans says Willow Court is believed to be the third most haunted site in Australia.”

I would prefer that the Mayor fix the roads and attract business to the Valley instead of becoming a ghost expert to help out this film maker!

        1. Ha, I didn’t notice that comment, maybe the school of drycleaners do training in ghost hunting as well, or worse, stand-up comedy! I agree with you about doing other things that are more important to the Community, I think this Mayor has been side tracked, maybe by Cr. Bromfield??
