Site still unsafe?

In an updated 2016 plan, the Derwent Valley Council were informed that the old Royal Derwent Hospital site may pose significant health risks. These are asbestos within the buildings, building rubble and in an undisclosed dumping site on the property. Other issues are undeclared flood prone areas and two dump sites which it still remains unclear if biological hazards were placed.

  1. While I’m not a fan of the DVC, having seen the facility that remains, and the opportunity it presents to New Norfolk, I would like to assist if your group has the need. I am currently FIFO from Tas and need an outlet when home anyway. Please see my LinkedIn profile.

    1. Hi Matthew, The item wasn’t an attack on the DVC Council and I apologise if it came across that way. The news item was from a report of the DVC so the current Councillor’s understand what is involved in any future planning at the site. The State Government of Tasmania were responsible for the dumping of the toxins in this area and the Council had a due diligence when buying the site. As usual the Tax\Rate payers will have to foot any bill for rectification. People building and or buying on the site should also be aware. I don’t have any LinkedIn profile or account and don’t plan on getting one. We have a facebook page and group you are welcome to join.
      Cheers
